Expansion Hooks
Size
- The length ranges from a few centimeters to dozens of centimeters.
- There are multiple diameter sizes available.
- Small-sized expansion hooks are suitable for hanging light items, such as photos and small ornaments.
- Large-sized expansion hooks can be used for hanging heavy objects, like air-conditioning outdoor unit brackets (specially customized large-sized expansion hooks) and heavy-duty tool cabinets.
Working Principle of Expansion Hooks
Expansion hooks consist of a hook body and an expansion component. The expansion component is generally an expandable sleeve or expansion plug. During installation, it is driven into a pre-drilled wall hole. When the screw is tightened, the expansion component expands in the hole, firmly fixing itself in the wall using friction and extrusion force, enabling the hook to bear a certain weight.
Materials of Expansion Hooks
- Hook: Commonly used metal materials include carbon steel and stainless steel. Carbon steel has high strength and low cost, while stainless steel has strong corrosion resistance and is suitable for humid environments.
- Expansion Component: It is mostly made of metal (such as iron, copper alloy) or engineering plastics. Metal expansion components are sturdy and durable, and plastic ones are low – cost and easy to install.
Surface Treatment of Expansion Hooks
- Galvanizing: Through hot – dip galvanizing or cold – galvanizing processes, a zinc layer is formed on the surface, effectively preventing rust, which is the most common treatment method.
- Chromium Plating: It makes the surface bright and beautiful, enhancing wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and is mostly used in occasions with high aesthetic requirements.
Application Fields of Expansion Hooks
- Home Use: Hanging decorative paintings and wall lamps in the living room; hanging clothes and storage racks in the bedroom; hanging spatulas and cooking utensils in the kitchen; hanging towels and bath towels in the bathroom, etc.
- Commercial Use: Hanging signs and posters in store windows; hanging exhibits and signs in exhibition venues; hanging tools and cargo baskets in warehouses.
- Industrial Use: Hanging equipment parts and small tools in factory workshops; fixing safety nets and temporary lighting fixtures on construction sites, etc.
